How to ship a car & avoid common mistakes when choosing a car transport company

How to ship a car

To all of those considering transporting their car with an auto transport company, please be aware that most , if not all of the major sites you will end up on , via a google search, are essentially all the same. A search for "Top Auto Transport Companies" or Best Local Auto Transport Companies, will often reveal the same results, with the same major companies routinely ranking in the Google search. Some of these results will likely show you some of the following:

  • -Montway - (purchases by far the most google ads )
  • -Amerifreight ( Well known as the Walmart of auto transport )
  • -Sherpa ( Promotes a bogus "Price Lock Promise " and overquotes everything )
  • -Roadrunner ( Known for never answering their phones )
  • -Nexus - ( Slick website but the process is grossly misrepresented )
  • -Eship - ( Don't know enough about but they don't have many loads these days )
  • -SGT - ( Very aggressive tactics )

-----------------------------

The point here that I want to make - is that these companies are all the essentially the same . They are all cut from the same cloth. Same Tactics, same process, same scam techniques. Regardless of the quote, or the reviews you see online , you can be sure of the following :

  • - Aggressive tactics to get you to book an order
  • - Under Quoting on price ( such as guaranteeing a low price which is 100% impossible to do in this industry )
  • - Guaranteeing specific days or times for pickups. ( Another impossibility - this depends on many factors. )
  • - Virtually no vetting of companies or company equipment other then checking Central Dispatch Ratings. And many companies on central with good ratings, actually have expired insurance policies, or inactive DOT numbers. In other cases companies are using Uhaul trailers, moving vans, and other very subpar equipment to move cars. These things are virtually never checked. -Auto-dispatching or first come first serve dispatching - What this means in the world of auto transport, is that these companies really do not care who loads your car, their only goal most of the time is to get it dispatched out as rapidly as possible. Since in many cases, this is where they will charge your card, so the moment they get it dispatched, they also know they'll get paid & or charge your card for what goes to them. Because of the heavy incentive to get the car dispatched at all costs, this leads to every company and rep ( many who are on commission ) - to do no checking of said trucking company at all. They only care about getting it dispatched as rapidly as possible, so they can get paid. This of course, does nothing to serve you as the consumer. You are basically at the mercy of random luck, as to the quality of the truck or company that is dispatched out on your order.
  • - These are just a few of the tactics that all of these companies will deploy to one extent or another. Know that all of these tactics are bogus. There is no "spot" to reserve. There is no guaranteed "price" to lock in. There is no guaranteed "time" to get your order placed in time for. These are 100% gimmicks to get you as the unknowing consumer to book an order with them. Furthermore, be advised, that while "$0.00" down may sound good, we would be incredibly weary of putting any credit card down with these companies, and then simply "allowing" them to just charge your card once the order is dispatched. Although it is enticing because it says $0.00 down, please understand by setting up the process this way, you are incentivizing the transport company to auto-dispatch your order to any trucking company of any quality, because they know in order to get paid they need to get it dispatched ASAP , regardless as to what company they send it to.
